Freedom

‘Freedom’ began in 2001 as Marsha Lee Barnes counselled many women who had experienced various levels of abuse through either domestic violence, drugs, alcohol and/or sexual abuse. Over a short time these women began to meet as a group at Marsha’s flat in Forest Fields, Nottingham, England.

As the flat became too small, the group relocated to the nearby Forest Fields Community Centre and became known as ‘Set The Captives Free’.

In May 2005 Marsha married Peter Farmer and they began to lead the mission together. Since that time the community has transitioned through various stages; emerging as the ‘Freedom Centre’ in Sept 2007.

In March 2008 the building the mission community met in for its gatherings went under new management and repairs so the group became completely decentralized

As of April 2008, the community began to meet weekly in smaller groups (primarily in homes + cafes); and monthly as a larger gathering (cluster of small groups) in a local pub.

We are now known simply as ‘Freedom’ or ‘Freedom Network’

with Isaiah 61 as our mission:

‘restoring broken people and places. locally, nationally and internationally’
